Public Works Minister undertook an evaluation visit to the stretch last Thursday to outline celerity measures.
The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi has urged the construction company in charge of the building of the 72km road linking the towns of Awe, Esse, and Soa in the Centre Region to hasten up works in order to meet deadlines. He was on the field with the Secretary of State in charge of Roads, Louis Max Ayina Ohanda and other collaborators on November 16, 2017 to examine progress made on the project, scrutinize drawbacks and proffer solutions in order to enable the company complete the project within the agreed timeframe. The project which was expected to be completed in 24 months is only 12.33 per cent completed whereas 43.5 per cent of its timeframe has been exhausted.
The Chief Executive Officer of Atidolf Nigeria Ltd, Rodolph Badaui and his team led the Minister through sections of the roads where his company is facing difficulties in construction. He also hosted a meeting with government officials at the temporal base of his company. The main problems, the CEO pointed out during the meeting, were government’s delay in progressive payments to facilitate construction works and holdup in compensation of people living on land through which the road is expected to pass.
