Rural Women Celebrated In Douala

Hoes, wheelbarrows, cutlasses, sacks of salt, amongst others, were offered to them on October 18, 2016.
Rural women in Wouri Division of Littoral Region have been urged to attain the 17 Sustainable Development Objectives in order to contribute to the development of their communities and the nation. The call was made during the celebration of the 21st International Day of the Rural Woman on October 18, 2016 in Douala II. The objectives, including poverty eradication, good quality water, quality healthcare and education, equality between sexes, peace, sustainable forest and aquatic life and quality energy by 2030, will drastically ameliorate the living conditions of not only women, but men and the nation at large.
During the celebration, the Matron of the 21st International Day of the Rural Woman, Mayor Denis Fampou, disclosed that the council works with over 60 recognised women’s associations in Douala II municipality. In the presence of administrative authorities, the Mayor of Manoka and women’s associations from the six subdivisions that make up Wouri, Denis Fampou disclosed that the municipality is known for its peaceful cohabitation with citizens of different regions and nationals of various countries.
