Election day: Voting Made Simple

As outlined in a recently published brochure, the procedure for one to cast his or her vote is as easy as ABC.

Cameroonians will this Sunday go to the polls to elect a new President who will run the country for the next seven years. Registered voters will be expected to exercise their rights. But experience, from previous elections, has shown that many a voter do not know how to go about the voting exercise. In a recently published brochure, the elections management body Elections Cameroon has detailed the formalities in six easy steps.

Before then, one must be enrolled on the electoral register, in possession of his/her voter’s card, identify his/her polling station and ensure that his/her name is on the register of the polling station. Once that has been done, the voter can then go to the said polling station on Election Day. At the polling station, each voter should be identified by the chairperson or member of the local polling commission.

Persons with special needs and disability are given priority. The next stage is for the voter to ensure that his/her name is on the polling station roll, before collecting the nine ballot papers corres ponding to the nine hopeful in this year’s presidential race, and an envelope.
