Final Vote Count: Commission Submits Report Today

Headed by Essombe Emile, the Commission will today tender the final report of votes publicly counted from the 58 Divisions of the country and Embassies abroad.

The National Commission for the Final Counting of Votes will today October 15 submit its report to the Constitutional Council. This is in accordance with the Electoral Code in its Section 69(4) which states that a copy with appended documents shall be forwarded within five days to the Constitutional Council. The said Commission that began work on October 9 and concluded on October 13 examined reports from Divisional Supervisory Commissions and Embassies abroad.

The exercise was public and took place at the seat of the Constitutional Council located at the Yaounde Conference Centre. Members of the Commission all signed against the document which will be transmit ted to the Constitutional Council today. Paragraph 4 of Section 69 of the aforementioned Code compels the National Commission for the Final Counting of Votes to draw up a report on all its operations.

The report, unanimously established by members, is signed by the Chairperson and the Commissioners present, with each signatory member given a copy. The 22-man strong Commission therefore cross-checked results from different polling stations, correcting the necessary clerical errors as provided for by the law.
