Settlement Bill For 2017: Senators Acquire Scrutiny Tools

Officials of the Audit Bench of the Supreme Court on November 13, 2018 presented a summary opinion on the bill during a forum at the Senate.
The Settlement Bill of the Republic of Cameroon for the 2017 financial year that focuses on the State budget for that year in revenue and expenditure that stood at FCFA 4 373 8000 000 000 was tabled during the plenary sitting of the Senate on November 10, 2018.
The bill indicates a budget surplus of FCFA 300 280 850 698. Figures in the explanatory statement to the bill indicate that the budget execution in revenue stood at FCFA 4 529 703 498 754 and expenditure stood at FCFA 4 229 422 648 056.
This is because in the course of the year, the total revenue increased to FCFA 4 529 703 498 754, showing an execution rate of 103.56 per cent in relation to projections of FCFA 4 373 8000 000 000. The Settlement Bill was the main topic of discussion during the 11th exchange Forum between the Senate and the Audit Bench of the Supreme Court. The Ministry of Finance prepared and forwarded the bill to the Audit Bench of the Supreme Court according to the agreed transmission time on August 31, 2018.
The institution examined the bill in detail and forwarded its opinion and conclusions to the Ministry. The official of the Audit Bench of the Supreme Court, Theumoube Philippe during the forum presented summary of opinion No. 001/2018/CSC/CDC of 26 October 2018 on the Settlement Bill of the 2017 financial year.
The Vice President of the Senate, Naah Ondoua Sylvestre who chaired the forum on behalf of Senate President, Niat Njifenji Marcel, said the occasion was topical as it was intended to give Senators the necessary tools to scrutinise the Settlement Bill.
