Arthur Zang

L’informaticien au service de la santé

Il est le père du CardioPad. Arthur Zang, ingénieur informaticien, est rendu célèbre grâce à cette invention, la première tablette médicale africaine désormais commercialisée au Cameroun par sa start-up Himore Medical. Né à Yaoundé le 26 novembre 1987, Arthur Zang est titulaire d’une licence en informatique obtenue en 2004. Il entre ensuite à l’Ecole nationale supérieure polytechnique de Yaoundé, où il se spécialise en informatique. Durant ses études, il effectue un stage dans un hôpital et se rend compte qu’il manque cruellement de cardiologues au Cameroun : « Moins de 40 pour 19 millions d’habitants », précise le jeune ingénieur. L’idée du CardioPad se fait plus grande que jamais. Pour peaufiner son CardioPad, il suit une formation à distance auprès de l’Indian Institute of Technology. Son projet s’affine avec la  subvention de 20 millions de F que lui accorde Paul Biya, le président de la République. De quoi continuer ses recherches et mettre au point son bijou.

Maimouna Mollé Moussa 

The Android Divisional Officer

Maimouna Mollé Moussa is one of eight female Divisional Officers in the country, out of 360. At 33, the Divisional Officer, DO, for Garoua III Subdivision in Benoué Division of the North Region, is the first ever woman to serve in a command position in the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation in this Region. Though looking girlish, Maimouna Mollé Moussa has since her appointment on April 23, 2013 by President Paul Biya, stamped her authority on the part of the city of Garoua where she serves. Graduated from the National School of Administration and Magistracy, ENAM Yaounde, in 2010 Maimouna Mollé was posted to the Department for Discipline in the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reform, in 2011. On August 25, 2011, she was appointed Head of Division for Police and Administrative Organisation in the office of the Governor of the North Region.

Jean Marc Afesi Mbafor

Le jeune qui aime les jeunes

Son titre, président du Conseil national de la jeunesse, sonne presque comme une évidence. Diplômé de la Thames Business School de Lagos au Nigeria en 2009, Afesi Mbafor gagne en expérience professionnelle comme assistant personnel du CEO de la compagnie pétrolière Mobi Duff Nigeria Ltd. Le sens des affaires est déjà inné chez le jeune homme. Vivant dans un pays anglophone, il crée une entreprise proposant des services de traduction et des cours de langue française aux sociétés nigérianes. De retour au Cameroun, il s’établit et ouvre une entreprise familiale dans l’immobilier, qui au fil des années s’étend à d’autres secteurs comme le tourisme et l’agriculture. En 2009, il fonde l’association Mustard Seed avec pour but d’aider les jeunes Camerounais à comprendre et à jouer un rôle dans le développement de leur pays. En 2013, il est élu président du CNJC.

Atezambong Fomo Carine

A Woman Where Men Tread

Atezambong Fomo Carine, 32, is a Senior Physical Education and Sports Instructor and a Federation of International Football Association, FIFA, Assistant Football Referee. Becoming a football referee was a dream come true. She began taking interest in sports in Form One and with time, got involved in Karate, winning a brown belt. But on getting to university, Atezambong switched to Judo. On getting admitted into the National Institute of Youth and Sports, INJS, Yaounde in 2008, Atezambong’s father advised her to read football refereeing, which he admires. Later in 2008, she began serving as a football referee in the Centre Regional League. The following year, Atezambong was promoted to the First Division for women’s football. Not being satisfied with the level, she decided to become a referee for men. After succeeding, she was promoted to the Elite 2 League in 2012. She was eventually promoted in 2014 to the Elite 1 Male Football League and also became an Assistant FIFA Referee.

Alain Nteff

Les mères lui disent merci

La reconnaissance nationale et internationale, Alain Nteff la connait bien. En août 2015, il était le grand gagnant du prix de la jeune entreprise africaine. Alain Nteff est aussi le lauréat du Queens Young Leader Awards 2015 et du Anisha Prize 2014, entre autres. Son application « Gifted Mom » lui vaut toutes ces distinctions. « Gifted Mom » c’est une application pour téléphone mobile très pratique. Grâce à elle, les femmes enceintes n’ont plus de problèmes de mémoire, car l’application leur rappelle les dates de visites prénatales. Quant aux mamans, elles sont informées sur la prochaine date de vaccination de leurs bébés. C’est son envie de lutter contre la mortalité infantile, qui conduit l’ingénieur de 24 ans à mettre au point cette technologie, pour permettre à environ 5 millions de femmes au Cameroun d’ici l’an prochain de bénéficier d’un suivi prénatal et postnatal par SMS.
