Rail Transport Difficulties: Eseka Traditional Leaders Meet Transport Minister

Some traditional leaders of Eseka in the Centre Region were at the Ministry of Transport on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 to deplore what they qualified as the poor quality of transportation for their population between Douala and Yaounde. During the discussion chaired by the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Ngalle Bibehe, stakeholders said it was an opportunity to examine the rail transport problems faced by the people, seek lasting solutions so as to ensure serenity in the locality.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional leaders, Mbombog Bruno Mbilla said Eseka is suffering from insufficient and irregular train transportation, which disrupts the economic and social activities of the local population. He stressed the absence of a clear willingness, on the part of CAMRAIL, to provide decent transport means for the population, the multiple inconveniences caused to the population who, having as a means of transport only the train, spend several hours waiting in the stations day and night.

He also noted that such treatment should not be inflicted on the population of Eseka and its neighbouring villages, given that their parents and grandparents worked a lot to build the railway between Douala and Yaounde. “Something they did with great sacrifice”, Bruno Mbilla reiterated.
