Douala Job Fair: Youths To Go For Opportunities

Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakari has urged employers to give preferences to Cameroonians when recruiting.

Job seekers and students in Douala have been coached on how to go about looking for a job. The drilling exercise took place at the Douala Port Authority where the young Cameroonians came out in their numbers to get first hand information and orientation about jobs in Cameroon.

The rate of unemployed youths in Cameroon is said to be on the increase and most of them are in need of career orientation reasons why the International Job fair dubbed “Salon International des Métiers et de l’Emploi” was organised.

The 8th edition of the Job fair was a rare moment for the job seekers to meet with some employers and know what is expected of them when they get to the Job market. On hand to open the 8th edition of the job fair was the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training Issa Tchiroma Bakari, who said the event was in line with governments efforts to fight against youth unemployment.

He added that the Head of State, Paul Biya has created jobs for young people and he is more determined to create more. He called on young people in the littoral Region to go more professional rather than having certificates that will not be able to give them jobs. To him the government has created vocational training centres nationwide to help youths in their quest for professionalism.
