North West : Mobilized to Improve May 20 Participation

Fifth Joint Military Region Sports week on course to keep Defence and Security forces together and fit for service.
Servants of the State in the North West region have been mobilized to improve participation at the May 20, 2019 National Day or be on the wrong side of history. The appeal was made in Bamenda recently by North West Governor, Adolphe Lele L’Afrique while launching preparations ahead of the National Day. It was a moment for the Governor to threaten punitive measures against service heads and collaborators whose absence from work places and some official National events have been glaring in recent times.
The threats came in the backdrop of a report by the Regional Delegate of Youth and Civic Education that the Bamenda ceremonial ground was near empty with most service heads absent during the May 20, 2018 edition of the National Day. It also emerged from the report that ghost town calls and threats ahead of the event did not help matters. On the security situation of the region, the Governor urged all to work for a return to normalcy.
He appealed for all to embrace the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Commission and encourage youths fighting in the bushes to drop guns and benefit government’s assistance towards a life that pays.
