Back-to-School : Defence Officials Join Campaign Train

Dubbed, ‘Monday September 2, 2019, all for School, all to School,’ the campaign seeks to encourage parents and students to ensure an effective school resumption in the North West and South West Regions.
As September 2, 2019 approaches, the date for the kick off of the 2019/2020 academic year in the country, several calls are being made by patriotic citizens either individually or collectively for an effective school resumption in the two Anglophone regions. The regions have for over two years suffered a downward trend in school attendance. With the worrisome situation, the army has joined the back-to-school wagon with a campaign christened ‘Monday September 2, 2019, all for School, all to School.’
In an editorial of August 17, 2019 by the Head of the Communication Division of the Ministry of Defence, Commander Cyrille Serge Atonfack Guemo, he states that the education of children cannot wait because the Cameroon of tomorrow is being built now. “Because the education of our children cannot wait, because the Cameroon of tomorrow is built right now, we will not stop repeating: that Monday, September 2, 2019, all for School, all to School,” he argued in his editorial.
Commander Atonfack in his back-to-school editorial regrets the current situation in the two speaking regions but equally highlights the fact that parents and other concerned persons are putting hands on deck to ensure the best possible back-to-school for children. “…..Monday September 2, 2019 is particularly noteworthy because it marks the return of kindergarten, elementary and secondary school students to school.
