Territorial Administration : Bike Riders Cautioned To Be Law Abiding

Minister Paul Atanga Nji told them to respect the laws of the land and will be punished accordingly if found circulating in restricted areas.
Following recent circulation disturbances caused by bike riders in the political capital city of Yaounde in relation to a prohibition order by the Governor of the Centre Region limiting them on their areas of circulation, the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji has held a meeting to reiterate on the respect of the law in Cameroon. The November 14, 2019 sensitisation meeting with administrative officials, mayors and motorbike rider’s syndicate was aimed at educating the biker riders on the importance of the respect of existing regulations.
Minister Atanga Nji congratulated them for having since Monday November 11, 2019 respected the order which delimit their circulation in certain parts of Yaounde. “I acknowledge the fact that bike riders help in the transportation of persons but they need to respect the law. Yaounde is a beautiful and orderly city and will in the near future be hosting a very important political event. It is important for biker riders to respect their limits of circulation for peace and security,” he stated. The Minister said he has received several complains about biker riders not respecting traffic signs and highway codes, poor driving and are sometimes accomplices of theft. “Most of you bike riders do not wear helmets, are not dressed in identification jackets and do not meet up with the necessary circulation documents. Help us to help you and support you in your job,” Paul Atanga Nji told them.
