Senate : Three Bills Tabled

They were tabled on November 26 in a plenary sitting chaired by the Senior Vice President of the Senate, Aboubakary Abdoulaye.

Three bills were yesterday November 26, 2019 tabled before Senators in a plenary sitting chaired by the Senior Vice President of the Senate, Aboubakary Abdoulaye, in the presence of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Relations with Parliament, François Bolvine Wakata. The bills relate to the world tourism organisation, the settlement bill for the 2018 financial year and the promotion of bilingualism in Cameroon. Bill No 128/PJL/SEN/2L seeks to authorise the President of the Republic to ratify the amendments to the statutes of the World Tourism Organisation, adopted since its establishment in Mexico on September 27, 1970. Explanatory notes of the bill submitted for scrutiny indicate that the amendments in general govern UNWTO membership, the composition of the General Assembly and the Executive Council, as well as the terms of office of members of the said Council. The ratification of these amendments, the context notes further presents, falls within the framework of national policy trends in terms of promoting and developing tourism and further seeks to strengthen multilateral cooperation between Cameroon and UNWTO, with a view to effectively contributing towards achieving growth and poverty reduction goals.

The second bill submitted, bill No 131/PJL/SEN/2L is the settlement bill for the 2018 financial year.
