Legislative, Municipal Elections : SDF Proposes Postponement, Maintains Peace Stand

In a press conference on November 28, 2019, the party said it prioritises peace and prays for a return to normalcy in the security affected regions of the region before any elections.
The Social Democratic Front (SDF) party has again in a press conference on November clarified the public as to whether they will be participating in the February 9, 2020 municipal and legislative elections. Going by the stand of the party made known by the First Vice President of SDF, Joshua Osih, it prioritises peace in the North West and South Regions and prays on the President of the Republic to use his Constitutional powers to ensure the reign of peace in affected areas before any elections. They further hold that, should achieving relative peace before the elections seem impossible, the President of the Republic should postpone the elections. Joshua Osih in his preliminary statement proposes this could be done through the modification of the Electoral Code which will subsequently give the President the powers to postpone the elections till relative peace and security is attained.
On measures to be implemented to attain relative peace, the party proposed the convening of the parliament in congress by the President of the Republic so that the lawmakers should study, brainstorm and come up with the content of the Special Status for the two Anglophone regions.
