Senate : Bills From National Assembly Under Scrutiny

Senate President Marcel Niat Njifenji on June 24, 2020 chaired the plenary sitting for the tabling of the bills.

Three bills already adopted by the National Assembly in the ongoing June 2020 ordinary session of parliament were on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 tabled during a plenary sitting of the Senate. 
Senate President, Marcel Niat Njifenji chaired the plenary sitting in the presence of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Relations with the Assemblies, Wakata Bolvine. Prior to the tabling of the bills in plenary, Senate President presided at the Chairmen’s Conference in which the bills were considered and the competent committee for scrutiny determined.
Opening the plenary sitting, Marcel Niat Njifenji said the three bills adopted by the Lower House of Parliament on June 22, 2020 were forwarded to the Senate on June 23, 2020 by the Speaker of the National Assembly after their adoption by the said House, according to Section 30 of the Constitution.
The bills that were forwarded to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate for scrutiny include:  the bill to authorise the President of the Republic to ratify the protocol to eliminate illicit trade in Tobacco products; the bill to authorise the President of the Republic to ratify the Statute of the Women Development Organisa...
