North West : Stakeholders Evaluate Security Measures

Regional Administrative and Security Coordination Session on November 3, 2020 saluted increasing collaboration of the population with defense forces against insecurity.

The state of the North West region was at the centre of a Regional Administrative and Coordination meeting in Bamenda on November 3, 2020. North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique presided the session which featured updates, exchanges and resolutions on the region's state of roads, resumption of schools for the 2020/2021 academic year, preparedness ahead of the December 6, Regional elections, Covid-19 updates, end-of-year feasts, and expectations towards the execution of the Presidential Reconstruction Plan for the North West and South West regions. A minute of silence in memory of the massacred Kumba-based  students of Mother Francisca's  Bilingual Academy set the tone for the session with the  Governor urging stakeholders to be vigilant against perpetrators of evil that do not help matters in efforts for a return to normalcy in the North West and South West regions.
It emerged from presentations that all files expected towards funding by the Presidential Reconstruction Plan must be available by February 15, 2021.Away from that, updates about the Coronavirus pandemic featured 897 cases at press time in the region with 801 cases recovered, 73 deaths, 23 active cases and one re-infection case. Public Health authorities in the region announced a progressive decline and challenged the population to continue respecting barrier measures because Covid-19 is yet to be conquered.
