November Session of Parliament : National Assembly Institutes Adaptive Modalities

All measures have been put in place to facilitate deliberations by lawmakers.
As the National Assembly will for the first time begin meeting in the third ordinary session for the 2020 legislative year out of its usual building, concrete measures have been taken to ensure lawmakers properly scrutinize documents brought before their consideration. The November session which starts today is principally dedicated to the examination and subsequent adoption of the finance bill for 2021. Simply put, government Ministers will defend their respective budgets for next year before the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly and Senate. This will however begin after the Prime Minister and Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute would have presented government’s economic and social programme that contains major development projects to be carried out during the year and beyond.
The National Assembly main building which is presently being constructed has made the House to be temporally relocated to the Yaounde Conference Centre. A hall reflective of a typical court setting has been secured to be used by the Finance and Budget Committee. Chairs have been placed in respect to a two metres gap. A stand for hand sanitizing has also been installed in the Committee room. All barrier measures will be strictly respected as government Ministers will be defending their proposed budgets.
