Diaspora Investment Support Programme: Stakeholders Chart Productive Development Path

This was during a third and ultimate session of the advisory and steering committee in charge of promoting diaspora investments in Cameroon.

External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella on April 13, 2021 launched the third session of the Consultative and Orientation Committee on the Diaspora Productive Investment Support Programme dubbed, Dias’Invest237 during which stakeholders exchanged views on sustainable development in the country. This was in the presence of other members of government and representatives of the diplomatic corps.

While launching the deliberative activities for the session, an initiative which started in 2017, Minister Mbella Mbella said it seeks to contribute to the sustainable development of Cameroon through an inclusive manner. “On the heels of the maiden Forum of the Diaspora, FODIAS, which the government of Cameroon successfully organised in June 2017, the Dias’Invest 237 project came up as a coherent project whose solutions are geared towards implementing, strengthening, structuring and securing diaspora-funded productive investments in Cameroon,” he stated. The Minister added that one of the missions assigned to the diaspora by the President of the Republic within the framework of attaining emergence by 2035, is the contribution of the Cameroonian diaspora in the structural transformation of the economy.

The French Ambassador to Cameroon, Christophe Guilhou said the initiative translates the friendly relations between Cameroon and France. “What we are looking at is to enhance the development of Cameroon based on its assets and one of its assets obviously is the Cameroonian community in France.
