Inaugurated by the Prime Minister on November 5, 2021, it has a household with a processing capacity of 40,000 tons per year.
A subsidiary firm of “Sociéte Anonyme des Brasseries du Cameroun” (SABC) known as “Compagnie Fermière Camerounaise” (CFC) has been inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute on November 5, 2021. Located in Mbankomo, Mefou-et-Akono Division of the Centre Region, the basically maize processing plant is constructed on a surface area of 30,000 hectares at an estimated FCFA 25 billion (for the two sites of Mbandjock and Mbankomo) with the Mbakomo site having consumed over FCFA 14 billion). The industrial complex consists of a household with a processing capacity of 40,000 tons per year, a feed mill with a processing facility of 30 tons of feed per day and a hatchery likely to generate 90,000 chicks per week.
Specifically to maize transformation, national transformation is estimated at 2.3 million tons for a need evaluated at 2.8 million, thus a deficit of 500,000 tons. CFC works in partnership with about 10,000 farmers for maize supply and transforms it to three major outcomes. It is processed into cornflour for beer production, flour for pastries and animal feed to boost protein in animals. Packaged in bags of 25kg and 20kg, the animal feed has been sub transformed for the different categories of chicken seen in our local market (one day chicks, layers and agric chickens). Fabrication is for wholesale buyers who in return retail to other smaller scale purchasers. Modern machines are installed at the complex for the apt processing of maize in the most hygienic and nutritive conditions.
The maize processing plant developed by the Group SABC is a development oriented initiative for the structural transformation of Cameroon with an import substitution principle.
