Cameroon-United Nations: Appreciating Volunteering Actions

Toily Kurbanov during an audience granted him by Minister Felix Mbayu on November 11, 2021 said Cameroon is first on the continent as concerns volunteering in the UN.
The Executive Coordinator of the United Nations Volunteer Programme, Toily Kurbanov, has thanked Cameroon, which he says is the first in the continent as concerns nationalities producing and receiving volunteers in the United Nations. This was during an audience granted him by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu on November 11, 2021. He was accompanied to the audience by the Resident Coordinator of UN Systems in Cameroon, Matthias Naab.
Talking to reporters after the audience, Toily Kurbanov said he is in Cameroon within the context of the implementation of the new strategic framework for sustainable development that was developed by the government and agreed with the United Nations country team under the leadership of the United Nations Resident Coordinator through the development cooperation framework. “There is special reason to be in Cameroon because this is an opportunity for us to say thank you to all the Cameroonian people and the reason being that Cameroonians are one of the top nationalities amongst international UN volunteers after France and India. They are number one on the continent, not only in receiving international volunteers but have Cameroonians as international volunteers all across the continent and even beyond. These Cameroonians are serving in different UN agencies and are sharing their experience and commitment to improve development results in the foreign countries. So we thank the Cameroonian people for investing and continue to nurture the human talent,” he said.
Toily Kurbanov added that he was also in Cameroon to present their commitment and identify specific actions on how the UN country team as a whole with the technical support from UNV can continue to strengthen the national volunteer programme in Ca...
