Commendable Gesture

After weeks of speculation, the worries of several political analysts and observers have now been laid to rest following a decision by President Mahamat Idriss Deby to re-enforce MINUSMA troops in the Sahel region. The move which comes three days after France and her European partners announced the withdrawal of their military from Mali, has not only been commendable, but regarded as a morale booster to soldiers already in the field and other partners still reflecting on whether to join the fight or send aid. Before yesterday’s gesture by Chad’s number one personality who masters the terrain very well, there are over 1,200 Chadian soldiers already in the combat field under the banner of the UN force in the fight against jihadists. 
Knowing very well that Mali is the epicenter of terrorism in the Sahel, President Mahamat made it crystal clear that his troops are going into the field following an agreement with Malian authorities and the MINUSMA (the UN force).
