The State servants, led by the Divisional Officer, were travelling to the locality of Bekora on an official meet-the-people tour and met the misfortune by 11 am March 2, 2022.
The Governor of the South West Region, Bernard Okalia Bilai, has confirmed the death of seven top personalities of Ekondo Titi by 11 am on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 in an explosive planted by unidentified armed groups between the localities of Lobe and Bekora in Ekondo Titi Sub-Division.
The Governor in a statement to Cameroon Tribune and CRTV explained that the Divisional Officer for Ekondo Titi was en route to Bekora for a meet-the-people tour within his area of command accompanied by security and other political officials. The DO’s vehicle was second on the convoy of four.
He said, “some two kilometres from Lobe towards Bekora, the DO’s vehicle, second on the convoy of four, climbed on a planted explosive. There were six persons in the DO’s car. After the explosion, the terrorists who planted the explosive and were in ambush started shooting at the vehicle and all six occupants died.
