South West : Regional Assembly Looks Back With Satisfaction

In the six administrative divisions of the region, it has carried out significant development to better the standards of living of the population.

The South West Regional Assembly has nodded with gratification its development strides in the region for 2021. A catalogue of executed projects in the six administrative divisions of the region were read out to Regional Councillors by Bernard Okalia Bilai, South West Governor and Representative of the State. This was in Buea on March 10, 2022, as the Regional House held its belated January 2022 Session.
Okalia Bilai in an elaborate presentation indicated that FCFA 86 billion was allocated for the South West Region in the 2021 budget. From this amount, FCFA 9, 622 882 000 was managed by Regional and Local Authorities. There were 348 projects earmarked. Statistics show that 67 projects were managed by deconcentrated services while 317 were managed by councils. Of the 384 projects, 369 were effectively awarded with an execution rated at 82.05 per cent. 
The Governor took time to enumerate the projects per division. Among the projects executed are the construction of stores and a fish market in Tiko, construction of two blocks of classrooms in GHS Batoke, extension of electricity in Nyah village in Tombel Subdivision, construction of a bridge in the Alou subdivision, supply of medical equipment to the Wabane Integra...
