Commonwealth : Calls For Cooperation For Prosperous Future

Cameroon joined the other Commonwealth member countries yesterday March 14, 2022 to officially celebrate this years Commonwealth Day.
The Commonwealth member countries on March 14, 2022 celebrated the Commonwealth Day with Queen Elisabeth II, head of the Commonwealth who took cognisance of the testing times to state that, “In these testing times, it is my hope that you draw strength and inspiration from what we share, as we work together towards a healthy, sustainable and prosperous future.”
The Queen whose 70 years on the throne will be celebrated this year, in her message read out during the celebrations in Cameroon at the Ministry of External Relations said, “ I hope we can deepen our resolve to support and serve one another, endeavour to ensure the Commonwealth remains an influential force for good in our world for many generations to come.” The Commonwealth Day 2022 was celebrated on the theme, “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming.”
The Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu presided at the official celebration in Yaounde on behalf of the Minister of External Relations, Mbella Mbella. He said that through the theme, “We tried to celebrate what is common among the member States of the Commonwealth. As you know, the Commonwealth brings us together to share best practices, knowledge and issues of common concern be they international security, good governance, climate change, youth, gender etc.” The Commonwealth, according to Minister Felix Mbayu, is an organisation which is defined by its multiculturalism, ethnicity and those are the same attributes with Cameroon. This means that when Cameroon is celebrating the Commonwealth Day, it is also celebrating unity in diversity.
With regard to the common challenge of fighting terrorism, Minister Felix Mbayu said Cameroon had adopted indigenous solutions in fighting the secessionist attacks in the North West and South West Regions and Boko Haram, terrorist sect insurgencies in the Far North Region.
