Slow, But Steady Back To Classrooms

Some teachers have resumed teaching while others are still adamant in spite of efforts made by the government to meet their demands.

Friday March 25, 2022, it is 11:00 a.m. A team of Cameroon Tribune (CT) reporters are on a tour to some secondary schools in the Centre Region, precisely in the Mfoundi Division. School premises are busy as usual with students carrying out various activities. While some are into sporting activities, others are receiving lessons in their classrooms and some are moving around the school premises. The process of teaching and learning seems to be moving on as planned. However, some teachers are yet to effectively resume teaching in various classrooms, in spite of efforts taken by the government to meet their requests. 
At the Government Secondary School in Nkolmesseng, serenity reigns as some students can be seen undertaking sporting activities while others are receiving lessons in various subjects. Form Four Spanish Series students could be seen in an orientation session with a teacher. Those in Upper Sixth Spanish 1 and 2 were receiving lectures in the English and Philosophy Subjects respectively. However, the English teacher became furious when she heard a team of journalists was going round the school premises. She immediately came out of the classroom and ordered not to be taken in any picture. While lamenting, the teacher said, “Journalists are saying all sorts of lies about our situation, when we are suffering.” The philosophy teacher said the media is not going to use her as a traitor. After CT reporters move round the school campus, it became clear that the majority of students standing outside, where rather waiting for the afternoon shift which was to begin in 30 minutes.
