South West Region : Fontem Elite Seek Peace, Development

The elite and traditional rulers of Fontem Sub-division in Lebialem Division of the South West Region have met in what the organisers called an “Apolitical Fontem Sub-divisional Peace and Development Conference”. The meeting held at the Buea Mountain Hotel last 16 April, 2022, convened and moderated by Dr. Nkemasong Nicarsius, Mayor of Menji Council.
Deliberations of the peace-thirsty conference rolled on in the presence of the Divisional Officer for Fontem Sub-division, Eselakwe Emile. In attendance were also the three Paramount Chiefs of the area, their majesties Fon of Fontem, Fon of Esoh-Attah and Fon of Njoagwi. Other chiefs under their respective Fondoms or chiefdoms were equally present.
The crux of the meeting as explained by its convenor, the Mayor of Menji Council, was to seek ways of enabling the resumption of schools as well as development projects for the benefit of its 77,487 inhabitants. It was reported that of the number and due to insecurity, only some 200 persons are living in the area now, the rest having fled to safer grounds outside Lebialem. 
Opening the meeting, Dr. Nkemasong explained in detail that the meeting was apolitical and had, as sole business, to allow the sons and daughters of Fontem Sub-division to air out their minds so Fontem could regain the required peace for socio-economic development.
