Cameroon-Brazil : Determination To Strengthen University Cooperation

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute on April 20 had discussions with the Brazilian Secretary of State for Higher Education and the outgoing Regional Director of UNESCO for Central Africa.
Cameroon and Brazil are determined to boost cooperation between the universities of the two countries in order to benefit from the experiences, especially developing the economy with research and knowledge-based strategies.
The visiting Secretary of State in Brazil’s Ministry of Higher Education, Wagner Villas Boas de Souza and Prime Minister, Head of Government Joseph Dion Ngute discussed the extent and mutual benefits of cooperation between Cameroonian and Brazilian universities. After their discussions, the Brazil government official said his country has set out to transfer its technology and experience to Cameroon in the areas of agriculture, science and technology. This would be achieved through cooperation between the universities of the two countries with two Brazilian Universities that already have cooperation agreements with Cameroonian Universities of Dschang, Yaounde I and Yaounde II. The visit was intended to strengthen the cooperation between the said universities and to encourage more universities in Brazil to sign cooperation agreements with others in Cameroon. He said that for the partnership through university cooperation to be more concrete, government has to strongly support the universities.
