North West and South West Regions : Promising Mobilisation For Peace

Government, members of the elite and the local populations are multiplying strategies to ensure the return to peace and normalcy in the two regions.
There is a perceptible mobilisation by all strata of the society in the security-crisis stricken North West and South West Regions to ensure the return to peace, security and normalcy.
What makes news this time is the active and open involvement of the populations of some localities like Oku, Babessi, some parts of Jakiri, Balikumbat all in the North West Region, Nguti, Mbalangi among other places in South West Region in fighting separatist fighters. The fighters have been driven out of some localities, killed in others and the population is more and more collaborating with the defence and security forces to track down the separatists.
The urgent need for peace has necessitated synergy among political, religious and traditional authorities with political party affiliations kept aside to fight the common enemy. This was testified by the dinner Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute and wife organised on April 11, 2022 in honour of the parliamentarians from the North West Region. The Members of the National Assembly and Senators of both the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) and the opposition Social Democratic Front (SDF) all converged on the Prime Minister’s residence with the common goal of synergising with the elite and the local population to seek the return to peace in the North West and South West Regions. Before receiving the North West parliamentarians, the Prime Minister on April 7, 2022 still in his residence charted the same ways for peace when joined by the elite, he stressed the need for the active participation of parliamentarians from the South West in the return to peace and normalcy. As all the means of bringing back peace are being sought, the Prime Minister urges that, “It is time for us the elite to stand up, seize the moment as the population in villages have done in both the North West and South West Regions.” The elite should take the message of peace to the children who are still fighting in the bushes to drop their arms, come out and embrace peace.
