West Region : State Honours Assassinated Penitentiary Staff

West Regional Governor, Awa Fonka Augustine accompanied by North West Regional Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, on May 5, 2022 at the Bafoussam ceremonial ground, paid their last respects to four prison administrators killed on April 12, 2022 as they returned from an event in Nkambe, Donga-Mantung Division of the North West Region. 
Both administrators comforted the bereaved families in the face of the tragic loss and officially handed the remains to respective families at the Bafoussam ceremonial ground where family members, friends and colleagues watched in shock. Among the departed Penitentiary staff was 52-year-old Kigha Theodore Kume, the former Regional Delegate of Penitentiary Administration and General Administrator of Prison, APs Nnang Ajang Lionel 31, Chief of Service, General Affairs, Principal Prison Warder, Afuh Nelson Nchia, 25, and Major Prison Warder, Owono Yannick. They paid the supreme sacrifice on their way back to Bamenda through   Bui Division after Commissioning the new Administrator of the Nkambe production prison. It was indeed a totally sad event presided at by the two Governors with the Inspector General of Penitentiary Administration in the Ministry of Justice, representing the Minister of State, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals. 
In an eulogy at the ceremony, the Director of Penitentiary Administration, in the Ministry of Justice, regretted that, the valiant officers all in active service, left Bamenda to Nkambe on April 11, 2022, where they successfully installed the new prison administrator of the Nkambe central prison that same day, and on their way back to Bamenda on April 12, 2022, they met their doom as they were attacked by terrorists and brutally assassinated some five kilometers from Kumbo. Their corpses were handed to family members for burial in their various villages.
