Cameroon’s Cultural Diversity: Embassy In Washington Showcases Prowess

This was during the 15th edition of the Around The World Embassy Tour taking place in DC, USA.

T he Embassy of Cameroon in Washington D.C., USA, was amongst 30 plus embassies that opened their doors to visitors on Saturday, May 7, 2022 to mark the opening of the 15th edition of “Passport DC” or “Around The World Embassy Tour.” Passport DC is a month-long cultural event which gives an opportunity for those resident in Washington or elsewhere in the USA to freely take a tour of the different embassies in Washington D.C, and savour their cultural displays, arts, culinary, folklore, music among others. Information indicates that lovers of arts and culture from many different countries visited the Embassy of Cameroon to discover Cameroon's rich and diverse culture. The displays and exhibitions that Cameroon's Ambassador to the US, Henri Etoundi Essomba and the staff put in place was fascinating as over 5,000 visitors were recorded on a single day. The CEO of Du Plain Global Enterprises, Jan Du Plain, who is also the organiser of the Passport DC event, was impressed by the huge number of visitors she has witnessed at the Embassy of Cameroon. The visitors appreciated the richness of Cameroon's food, arts, paintings, dance, drummers and a lot more. "I have never seen such a turnout at the Embassy of Cameroon. It is phenomenal," she said. The turnout of over 5,000 visitors was far above the 2019 figures which stood at about 3,000 visitors. "This Embassy is spectacular. You have the food, you have the dance, you have the drums...This is one of the highlights of Passport DC. We have over 30 embassies that are participating and I can tell you, Cameroon is right there at the top. Bravo to all the people of Cameroon," Jan Du Plain concluded. The Cameroon’s Embassy in Washington DC is participating at Passport DC for the fourth time since its inception in 2008.
