Burning of Mamfe District Hospital : Manyu Elite Vehemently Condemn Act

Minister Arrey Mengot presided a crisis meeting to that effect in Yaounde on June 10, 2022.
Following the burning of the Mamfe District Hospital in Manyu Division, South West Region in the late hours of Wednesday June 8, 2022 that reduced the entire structure to ruins, political elite of the Division holding a crisis meeting on June 10, 2022 have condemned the barbaric act which contradicts international humanitarian law. The Minister of Special Duties at the Presidency of the Republic, Victor Arrey Mengot presided at the crisis meeting which held in Yaounde, and was attended by amongst others members of Parliament (Senators and Members of the National Assembly). They all expressed shock for the inhumane action. “We are very shocked that a facility that is a community good can be the object of such attacks. Every son and daughter of Manyu Division, whether politically inclined or not vehemently condemns this act. It is something unheard of. We know that even in the times of war, hospitals and ambulances are a no-go area. If someone is fighting a war, hospitals should not be touched, so we condemn such barbaric action,” he stated regrettably, adding that a lot of things need to be done immediately.
To the Minister, with such actions being committed by persons who paint defence and security forces black on social media is indeed terrible. “We condemn it coming from people called separatist fighters. Today, we hear them on social media accusing our defence and security forces because they do no longer want to own the atrocities committed by their own. But we all know the truth.
