Outside Parliament : Networking, Lobbying Continue

There are several activities carried out by Parliamentarians (Members of the National Assembly and Senate) outside Parliament. The actions which range from working with party officials, to lobbying for projects in constituencies and meeting with personalities of the region for development-oriented issues, only come to add to the traditional duties of scrutinizing and voting bills, and controlling government action. To the lawmakers, they use the opportunity to elaborate on projects which will be embarked on during parliamentary inter-sessions. 
Lodged at the Hotel des Deputés and Mont Febe in Yaounde for Members of the National Assembly and Senators respectively when Parliament is in session, they use the venue to continue working outside the House Chambers and Committee Rooms. 
Hon. Mbouangouere Rainatou of the Cameroon Democratic Union (CDU) says once back to the lodging facility, she studies bills that have been brought to Parliament for examination. Documents of parliamentary networks, she added, are also read during that time. She added that everything cannot be immediately read and understood at the hemicycle, so she uses the time she has out of Parliament to read the documents so as to make better inputs during general debates. Meeting with her alternate member and other colleagues to brainstorm and exchange ideas on how to contribute in accelerating the development of their communities and the country in general occupy centre stage when they are having a common meal.
