Consumer Goods, Products:Government To Reinforce Quality Control
The Ministry of Trade and the National Laboratory for Quality Control of Medicine and Expertise signed a partnership agreement in Yaounde on January 26, 21017
It has come to the understanding of the Ministry of Trade that Cameroon’s markets are flooded with goods of doubtful quality, with standards far from being respectful. The phenomenon is on the rise, though not quantified, Minister Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, told the press on January 26, 2017, after signing an agreement with the National Laboratory for Quality Control of Medicine and Expertise, LANACOM. The collaboration framework seeks to ensure that goods that enter the country and those manufactured locally conform to the plan adopted, instructions used and principles established.
The General Manager of LANACOME, Dr Rose Ngono Mballa Abondo decried the influx of counterfeit and fraudulent goods and medicine into the country, saying the agreement was a stitch in time that was expected to turn tides. The agreement provides for knowledge-sharing between controllers of both structures. It also provides for training and sensitization campaign in favour of businessmen.
