Decentralisation : France Throws Weight Behind Cameroon

President Emmanuel Macron of France has reiterated the full support of his country for the ongoing decentralisation process in the country, saying he believes it is a great approach in dealing with the socio-economic development concerns in the North West and South West Regions.
In the course of the joint presser which ran for about 35 minutes, both leaders reechoed their commitment to expanding and solidifying the Franco-Cameroon relations which have lasted for six decades and counting.
First to take the floor during the press conference of the State House, was President Paul Biya, who gave a panoramic rendition of the issues he discussed with his august guest behind closed doors. While thanking the French leader for accepting his invitation to come to Cameroon, he said the visit could not be more timeous than now, given the current context of events not only in Cameroon, but on the global stage.
Appreciating France for the multifaceted support which Cameroon has enjoyed over the years, the Head of State said their discussion centred on how their relations can be made stronger and more beneficial to citizens of both countries.
The topics he said they talked about included internal issues concerning Cameroon and France, regional and international security, the War in Ukraine, the global energy crisis and the generalised inflation which is affecting many countries of the world at the moment.
“This visit shows the quality and excellence of the relations that bind us. It has given us the opportunity to talk about how to enforce these ties. We express our profound gratitude to France for its multi-form support,” said President Biya.
