Diplomacy : Consolidating Historic Ties

The official visit to Cameroon of the French President was another event that further solidified ties between the two friendly countries.
Diplomatic relations between Cameroon and France, two sovereign nations that share historical ties, from every indication is rich and deep rooted. The two-day official visit to Cameroon of French President, Emmanuel Macron, at the invitation of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, is yet another manifestation of the two leaders to strengthen bilateral relations. Despite having established diplomatic relations in 1960, Cameroon and France share a colonial history, which makes the relationship even deeper. The conviviality that transpired during an audience between the two Heads of State, friendly press conference and private lunch atmosphere at the State House, as well as the hospitality at the airport (arrival and departure) accorded French President, not forgetting his kingly escort during his stay in Cameroon, translates the positive ties that exist between the eastern European nation and the land commonly referred to as Africa in miniature. Various diplomatic and political frameworks of cooperation between the two countries revolve around the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of either countries, though political consultations exist. One thing cuts cross diplomatic values between Cameroon and France, mutual respect, with ideas exchanged in the most appropriate manner.
The political capitals of Cameroon and France (Yaounde and Paris respectively) each host the Embassies of either States with resident Ambassadors at the helm of diplomatic affairs. A case in point was the presence of Cameroon’s Ambassador to France, André Magnus Ekoumou and French Ambassador to Cameroon, Christophe Guilhou at the Yaounde-Nsimalen international airport to welcome and bid farewell to the French Statesman and accompanying him in various high level meetings.
