The Regional Governor last week shuttled across the administrative units to get the fresh men on their seats at the helms of Kupe Muanenguba, Fako, Mamyu and Lebialem.
The chief executive of the South West Region, Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai, has been crisscrossing the Administrative Divisions under his command to install the newly appointed Senior Divisional Officers (SDO) following a Presidential decree of 14 July, 2022. To the new Senior Divisional Officers, the Governor prescribed security, peace and order. Equally, he called on the populations to make the new SDOs their partners for development and not party to their fight for wrangles and settlement of scores.

Commissioning Mr. Chaibou as new Fako SDO on 23 July, 2022, in Limbe, the Regional Administrative Boss underscored three slippery paths in Fako namely chieftaincy quarrels, land grabbing and security headaches. The Governor urged 57-year-old Chaibou to handle such incendiary issues with the best of his ability especially at this time of socio-political crisis. Chaibou replaced Emmanuel Engamba Ledoux transferred to head Nyong et So Division in the Centre Region after his five-year tenure in Fako. ‘Regarding lands and chieftaincy, virtually everyone here is ready to mislead you and make you an escape goat after having attained their objectives", the Governor cautioned the new Administrator. He went on to say the new Fako SDO must not become a party to anyone wanting to fraudulently obtain land and create a traditional stool. The Governor’s worry could be justified by the pronouncement from Territorial Administration hierarchy during the coronation of Limbe’s Paramount Chief on 11 June, 2022, that some 80 files were lying in his office containing complaints of chieftaincies and wanton grabbing and sale of CDC land. The Governor urged the new SDO to consolidate Fako’s ‘No’ to school boycotts, ‘No’ to ghost towns, and ‘No’ to terrorism" As new Administrator of Fako, he will equally face nature’s challenges of floods, social trials of urban disorder by bike drivers, clandestine transportation, all of which were noted in the welcome speech by the Limbe City Mayor.
