Recommendations of the Major National Dialogue : Remarkable Strides In Implementation Process

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute presided at the fourth session of the Follow-up Committee on August 4, 2022.
The path covered as concerns the implementation of resolutions of the Major National Dialogue which held in Yaounde from September 30 to November 4, 2019 have been publicly presented. This was during the fourth session of the Follow-up Committee for the Implementation of the Major National Dialogue presided at by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute on August 4, 2022.
In the opening remarks of the Prime Minister, he noted that the wish and actions of the Committee are geared at ensuring that there is a peaceful end-of-year activities for the populations of the North West and South West Regions. He cited the putting in place of the law on the General Code on Regional and Local Authorities which contains the Special Status for the North West and South West Regions, the creation of Regional Assemblies and the appointment of the Public Independent Conciliators of the two regions who are already functional. The amnesty granted to ex-fighters and other institutional reforms taken by the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister added, are geared at bringing back lasting peace to the troubled regions. Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute noted that the meeting was taking place at a time when the general situation in the two regions is gradually returning to normal as the populations are denouncing acts of violence against them by separatist fighters.
As a result of peace efforts carried out in the two regions, the Prime Minister noted that economic activities have witnessed an increase in the regions as the various production units of the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) and PAMOL have regained agricultural activities. The Ndawara tea estate, he added, now functions without problems. Trans-border trade is on the rise and transportation is fluid, except in the rural areas where the state of the road network is poor. He revealed that the President of the Republic in his magnanimity has instructed the Military Engineering Corps to take over construction of the
Kumba-Ekondo Titi road which has been interrupted by separatist fighters for years. The Head of Government added that the same scenario obtains in the Bamenda-Babadjou road which has been conferred to a local company that masters the road.
