Bilateral relations between Cameroon and the Kingdom of Spain can be described as positive, going by various projects realised within the framework of their cooperation ties. These relations were further strengthened yesterday August 9, 2022 as the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, granted a farewell audience to the Spanish Ambassador to Cameroon, Ramon Maria Moreno Gonzalez, who has come to the end of his diplomatic stay in the country referred to as “Africa in miniature.”     At the end of the audience, the Spanish diplomat expressed optimism in the future of cooperation ties between Cameroon and Spain, noting that he reviewed bilateral ties with the President of the Republic. 
Political relations between the two countries that love and promote football, are governed by a Memorandum of Understanding, signed in April 2009 in Madrid, Spain, and gives specificities in political consultations. Two subsequent bilateral agreements have been signed in 2011 and 2012, relating to combatting crime and air cooperation, respectively. Spain is an active partner of Cameroon in accelerating decentralisation. 
As concerns promoting security, Spain supports the territorial integrity of Cameroon, encouraging peace efforts adopted by the government in the search for lasting solutions to the socio-political tensions in the North West and South West Regions of the country. On several occasions, Spanish officials have reiterated their support for peace and dialogue. 
Spain continues to show its willingness to participate actively in enhancing security in the Gulf of Guinea, both at a general level of the United Nations and as a member of the European Union through the Commission's Critical Maritime Routes Programme.
