Electoral Registers : Other Actors At Forefront

Political parties, traditional and religious leaders as well as civil society organisations equally sensitise the population on the importance of participating in the electoral process.
As days draw nearer to the close of the electoral registers, major actors in the electoral process are working at ensuring that last minute potential voters have their names enlisted on the electoral registers. The actors besides Elections Cameroon include political parties and civil society organisations who keep imploring strategies to ensure they get the highest target possible. Besides having to gain more sympathisers who would possibly cast their votes in favour of a political party during elections, the political parties, just like civil society organisations are acting in accordance to the law. Cameroon, being a democratic State, gives the leeway to political parties to use seductive messages to woo those of voting age, to have themselves registered in order to effectively participate during elections when convened by the President of the Republic. As a result, rallies, sensitisation workshops, and meet-the-people tours are organised by legalised political parties to this effect.
There are also traditional rulers and religious leaders who based on the fact that they encounter several persons and act as a moral authority, contribute in encouraging citizens to register and participate in elections, an act acceptable by law. Elections Cameroon thus does not only work with its staff in the electoral process but with the aforementioned groups of persons who have some representatives at the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon.
The above mentioned group of individuals do not only sensitise potential electors, they also belong to commissions charged with preparing electoral activities, amongst which is the commission charged with supervising the issuance and distribution of voter cards.
