Back to School : Strategizes To Consolidate Academic Achievements

From the look of things, there is enthusiasm and excitement ahead of the 2022/2023 academic year in the North West region. Sector Conferences of Secondary and Basic Education have set the tone for the new academic year with stakeholders stating preparedness to rise to expectation as standard bearers for quality education in clean schools. The events on August 25th and 26th, 2022 celebrated excellence registered in 2021/2022 in peculiar circumstances in the face of socio-political and security challenges. The Regional Delegate of Secondary Education, Ngwang Roland acknowledged great pedagogic follow up which helped the North West to emerge with the best overall results at the June 22, session of the GCE Advanced levels. In very rough times, the region also sounded off with 204 functional secondary schools as against 177 the previous year, 60.482 students on roll as opposed to 43.640 in 2020/2021 and 27.720 students registered for end of course examinations as against 22.482 the previous year. Elsewhere at elementary education, the Regional Delegate, Wambeng Wilfred revealed that 2021/2022 featured 1026 functional primary schools as against 824 the previous year with 175.502 pupils enrolled as against 131.540 in 2020/2021 while Nursery schools featured an 11.8 percent increase with 32.500 children in 576 schools as against 20.698 in 87 schools the previous year.
