Decentralised Cooperation : Parliamentarians Liaise With Councils
This is to enhance development at the regional and local levels.
Senators and Members of the National Assembly pertaining to the Decentralised and Cross-border Diaspora Cooperation Parliamentary Network (French acronym, RED-COP) met with regional and local authorities of the South West Region to harness resources to fetch development. A delegation of the parliamentary group led Senator Otte Andrew Mofa, has sojourned in Buea from 4 through 6 October, 2022 to liaise with members of the Regional House of Assembly and the local Councils. The delegation briefly exchanged with the South West Regional Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai, before meeting the President of the Regional Executive Council, Zacheus Bakoma Elango and the President of the House of Chiefs, Chief Dr. Atem Ebako.
The mission of the RED-COP to Buea hinges on four key pillars notably; to present the group to locally elected representatives, exchange on the importance and value of decentralized, trans-border and inter-communal cooperation in the development of decentralized territorial authorities, evaluate the efforts on the ground and gather specific information to build a data bank of local priority needs. Senator Otte Andrew drew the attention of the local representatives of the South West people to the fact that Cameroon’s six million strong diaspora can be a wonderful asset for local development.
