North West DDR Centre : Equipment Donated For Inmates

Two truckloads of office and lodging equipment from ADDAX petroleum company received in Bamenda by DDR branch Coordinator, Kum Henry.


The donation of office chairs, cupboards, tables, mattresses etc to the Bamenda Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Center (DDR) has been summed up by the Chief of Center, Kum Henry as “a humanitarian gesture to fast-tract efforts to settle repentant ex-combatants at their new multi-purpose facility in the neighbourhood of the Mankon/Bafut airport. The truck-loads of equipment from ADDAX petroleum company were received in Bamenda on October 6 and 7, 2022. Some 311 ex-combatants currently belong to the DDR temporal lodging facility in the neighbourhood of Old town, Bamenda. They are training towards gainful activities, pending the equipment of their ultra-modern center whose construction was achieved and received on April 10,2021 by the National Coordinator of DDR, Fai Yengo Francis. 
It is all about a modern day facility conceived and delivered to give opportunities to repentant fighters who initially took arms against the State. The modern facility features 18 blocks with 12 air conditioned dormitories, an infirmary, workshops, playgrounds, modern toilets, a church, a mosque, command post, security post and a fence. It emerged from the event that some CFA 700 million was required to procure equipment for the beautiful facility to be declared good for use.
