Hate speech, short supply of Translators, Interpreters not helping matters in efforts to implement official languages in the North West region.
Visiting members of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism (NCPBM), Ntumfor Barrister Nico Halle and Prof. Samuel Efoua Mbozo’o have prescribed a platform that features love of one another, social justice, integrity, transparency, patriotism, humility and the fear of God as the gateway to check hate speech, xenophobia and achieve living together, harmony and enhanced practice of bilingualism in the nation. The team that went monitoring the implementation of the national policy on the promotion of official languages in regional and local institutions, inspired the institutions and the population to embrace the efforts of the NCPBM in promoting the beauty of the diversity of the nation’s people and cultures. Team leader, Ntumfor Barrister Nico Halle revisited the law and constitutional prescriptions that make the practice of bilingualism obligatory in Cameroon with official languages; English and French equal. He blamed speed brakes on the standard practice of bilingualism on some unpatriotic citizens. Ntumfor Barrister Nico Halle stressed that the NCPBM team was in Bamenda for a partnership with regional and local authorities to ensure that bilingualism becomes a reality. He stressed the need for bilingualism built on the moral values of love of one another and social justice.
Prof. Samuel Efoua Mbozo’o decried alarming levels of hate speech and xenophobia threatening national unity, national integration and living together.
