Cameroon Baptist Convention : Equity, Truth In Church Governance, Reasserted

The Executive President of the Cameroon Baptist Convention, CBC, Rev. Dr. Nditemeh Charlemagne on Saturday, November 5, 2022 concluded his first official visit – since his election in November 2020 – to the Yaounde Field Council of CBC Churches. The pastoral area comprises the Centre and East Regions, and parts of the West and South Regions. Rev. Dr. Nditemeh, who was accompanied by the CBC Chairman, Yosimbom Mkong John, was received in Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church, Yaounde from November 4-5, 2022 by pastors, church leaders and the Christians. Who were led by Rev. Jumbuin Enoch, Pastor of the Yaounde Field Council of CBC Churches.
Addressing Christians, Rev. Dr. Charlemagne recalled that his tenure had a three-prong objective - ensuring truth, equity and holistic development. He said truth had for long suffered in the church more than in the world. Just like tribalism has destroyed the CBC. He insisted that it was better to tell the truth and die than tell lies consciously. “The way we tamper with truth, we might not make heaven,” he cautioned. On equity, he said it was about giving fair opportunities in recruitments and appointments to minority groups in the CBC. “If we fail to respect equity, then we are only manufacturing more problems for the CBC,” Rev. Dr. Nditemeh warned.
He urged Christians to do more to raise the infrastructure level of CBC churches and facilities. He pleaded with Christians to be more faithful and regular in giving and for churches to invest in income-generating activities to improve their income and infrastructure. The CBC Executive President also touched on respect for due process, conflict in the church, constitutional reforms and church expansion. “Make use of affirmative action by choosing leaders from minority groups,” he urged church authorities.  
Earlier, Yosimbom Mkong John, recalled that the CBC General Council took key decisions a year and half ago, though there were challenges in implementing some. He said no Christian should see the decisions as the personal affair of the Executive President. And that if there was any blame, he bore it all.  The Chairman of the Yaounde Field Council of CBC Churches, Daniel Ngong Wango, said the pastoral area counts 10,556 Christians, 49 full-fledged churches, 69 preaching stations and 25 preaching cells.
