Fans Mourn In Hope

City dwellers who took off time out of their busy schedules to watch the Lions in different parts of the town were disappointed as Cameroon lost their opening game yesterday.

Yesterday Thursday November 24, 2022 was a special day for all Cameroonians and those in the country’s political capital, Yaounde inclusive. The Cameroon-Switzerland World Cup match Qatar was to kick-start at 11 a.m but some city dwellers in the earlier hours of day had already begun mobilising, sounding vuvuzela’s round the town. Some taxi drivers and bike riders were seen flying the Cameroonian flag as they eagerly wait for kick-off. About 30 minutes before the Lions could get into the pitch, some parts of the town began emptying as city dwellers looked for the closest spots to live the encounter. At kick-off, they had formed queues in some leisure spots and anywhere a Television set was found showing the match. Some of the most congested streets, circulated freely.
A multitude of fans equally thronged the fan zone at the Yaounde Municipal Town Hall. The tribune was too small to contain the spectators as a majority stood on their feet. When the opening whistle was blown, there was a lot of calmness and concentration.
