Doing Business : Cameroon’s Diaspora Empowered

The entrepreneurs who met with stakeholders in Douala recently are being given the means to contribute to economic development and job creation in their country of origin.
There are numerous dreams and ideas that need interconnected guidance and support networks to move from desires to realisation. It is on this background that mayors, foreign investors, representatives from government institutions and development partners met in Douala from November 15-16, 2022. The event is a part of entrepreneurship development project between Europe and Africa implemented by Expertise France, co-financed by the European Union and the French Development Agency to give entrepreneurs in the diaspora the means to contribute to economic development and job creation in their countries of origin (Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali and Cameroon).
Discussions took place under the theme, “Diaspora, entrepreneurship and local development” with a focus to strengthen the capacities of decentralised local collectivities to better welcome, serve and capitalise on the diaspora entrepreneur, develop connections between decentralised local collectivities and entrepreneurs in the diaspora (mainly from France and Germany) who have projects and expertise relevant to the development of decentralised local collectivities, as well as map actors who offer services or products to the diaspora, and the offers of technical, administrative and financial support to project leaders. The event is a part of the programme “Mobilisation Européenne pour l'Entrepreneuriat en Afrique (MEET Africa 2)” whose aim is to support and accompany inspiring projects led by actors from the African diaspora.
