Civil Protection : Improvement Mechanisms Discussed

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute received in audience the Secretary General of the International Civil Defence Organisation, Mariatou Yap on December 13, 2022.
Advancing national and international policies towards the civil protection of persons came under discussion at the Star Building on December 13, 2022. This was during an audience the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute granted the Secretary General of the International Civil Defence Organisation, Mariatou Yap, who is on a working visit in Cameroon.
In her statement to the press after the audience, the Cameroonian-born official said she was in Cameroon with her delegation some 18 months ago to talk about certain projects in favour of the country as concerns civil protection. “We have come back to enable the advancement of the projects. We will therefore in this context sign a Headquarters Agreement for the putting in place of a first office for the International Civil Defence Organisation outside Geneva. It will be in Yaounde and the signature accord is programmed for Friday December 16, 2022,” she revealed. The Secretary General further stated that the objective of the office will be to coordinate the Regional African platform and at the same time follow-up the implementation of activities of the intergovernmental organisation in member countries in Africa. “And also the putting in place of a national team of the Firefighters Brigade and other rescue teams who will participate in the competition at the International Confederation of Firefighters Brigade and Rescue Association,” she added.
