North West : Regional Assembly Targets Transport, Environment

During the 9th session of the Regional Assembly that ended on December 14, 2022 in Bamenda, the budget and priorities for 2023 financial year were voted.
The nineth Session of the North West Regional Assembly that held in Bamenda from December 12 -14, 2022 ended with four key areas to focus on as far as development is concern in 2023. The Regional Councillors voted a budget of about FCFA 4.69 billion to fast tract the economic development of the region.
Speaking during the session, the Regional Executive President, Fru Angwafor III said apart from the budget adopted, they might be able to mobilise more funds for the development of the region. Holding on the theme, "Citizen Participation in a bottom-up approach in sourcing activities from the communities", the Regional Councillors were drilled on citizen participation in development by Prof. Nsoh Christopher. The Regional President, Fru Angwafo III saluted Councillors for their contributions and engagements in promoting the development of the region. He said the Assembly will in 2023 focus on four key development areas that include: tourism and leisure, transport, town planning and environment.
Concerning the balance sheet of the about to end 2022 financial year, the President said so many activities were carried out. Amongst are the laying of foundation stone for the Bangshie Regional Gas Plant, school benches and Inkboards supplied to GBHS Bamendankwe and CCAST Bambili. The Assembly has also offered financial assistance to a good number of groups to help vulnerable communities affected by the security crisis. He added that Members of the Executive bureau featured prominently in different study trips across the board to learn how things are being done in other unitary States across the globe. He noted that local development is for everyone.
