CERAC Edifies Youths Of Lekie Division on Civic Education, Health Issues

The charitable group of Cameroon’s First Lady also handed diverse gifts to youths in the division yesterday ahead of the National Youth Day.
Activities to commemorate the 51st edition of the Youth Day in the country took a special turn yesterday February 9, 2017 at the Lekie Division in the Centre Region when students there had special teachers for special lessons. Students from different schools in the area gathered at the Government Technical High School in Obala to undertake special lessons from a delegation of the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC) on civic education, national integration, hepatitis virus, HIV, Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs), unwanted pregnancies, cyber criminality, ills of social media, digital economy and other topical issues affecting youths in the country today. Heading CERAC’s delegation for the educational talk was Mrs Odile Eyebe Ayissi, member of CERAC.
Holding in line with CERAC’s activities to participate in the Youth Day on the theme: “Youth and the Challenges of Building an Exemplary, Indivisible, Strong and Emergent Nation”, one of CERAC’s teachers Mrs Seraphin Fouda began lessons by questioning students on what theme they were commemorating Youth Day and their role in contributing to the development of the country. Students also had an opportunity to be schooled on the different types of hepatitis virus, how to prevent HIV and STIs and their symptoms. Besides being educated on the national symbols and emblems, their interpretation and the need for each youth to respect and valorise the national symbols, the students were made to understand that any attitudes that disrespect the national symbols are punishable under the law.
After a studious period in different classrooms, the students and their teachers gathered at the esplanade of the institution to receive special gifts offered by the Founding President of CERAC, Mrs Chantal Biya. Some 14 educational institutions received didactic...
