The opening game in Limbe yesterday January 12, 2023 blessed the junior Lions with a far-reaching 4-0 victory over their Central African opponents.
The seven-day U-17 football zonal tournament organized by the Union of Central African Football Federations (UNIFFAC) kicked off yesterday January 12, 2023 at the Limbe Omnisports Stadium with Cameroon’s junior Lions taking the lead. They walloped Central African Republic by 4-0 in the opening match. The best two teams of the tournament will head to Algeria come April 2023 for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Initially, five teams were expected in Limbe but for the disqualification of Chad and DR Congo. Only three countries are in Limbe namely: Cameroon, Central African Republic and Congo Brazzaville. With two teams expected to qualify for the U-17 AFCON, only one will have to drop.
UNIFFAC’s President, Congolese (Brazzaville) born Jean Guy Blaise Mayolas, gave the kick-off at the Limbe Omnisports Stadium accompanied by Cameroon’s Football Federation (FECAFOOT) President, Samuel Eto’o Fils.
