Various Commissions Already Working

The elections management body, Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) is completing its logistics readiness for the senatorial election. There are several tasks incumbent on ELECAM and the institution is putting things together to ensure that they meet up with the democratic requirement of organising a transparent and credible senatorial election. Following the convening of the electorate by the President of the Republic on January 13, 2023, the Director General of Elections, Dr Erik Essousse through a decision, created sub-commissions for the coordination and monitoring of material and the technical organisation of the election. As such, various commissions are already working for a hitch-free election, which the institution will be organising for the third time (first in 2013 and second in 2018).
Of the commissions is the sub-commission for reception and forwarding of nomination papers. The President of the said Commission, Susan Epiepang said they have been working since the convening of the electorate. Made up of 20 members, they work from 7:30 am to midnight and are ready to receive files from candidates or their representatives without discrimination. She noted that the Electoral Code prescribes for the nomination papers to either be deposited at the divisional branch head of ELECAM or at the Directorate General of Elections in Yaounde.
